About
This work develops a structural account of agency grounded in irreversible time. Agency is not identified with unconstrained freedom of choice, but with the capacity to bind oneself irreversibly through commitment.
Actions are formalized as state-space reductions that exclude future trajectories under conditions of structural non-recoverability. Decision is distinguished from action, degrees of agency are analyzed in terms of binding strength, and the apparent paradox between freedom and agency is resolved by introducing a temporal distinction between pre-binding optionality and post-binding structural constraint.
The account is substrate-neutral and does not depend on indeterminism, psychological hierarchy, or value-based frameworks.
